Waiting to get cleaned up

After the cleaning, getting ready for the stitches
The cut went through the muscle to the skull. There was some muscle missing so they couldn’t sew it all back together. I asked if maybe this would have a botox effect. :)
11 cm cut from my eyebrow into my hair line, 7 cm cut from my eyebrow to my temple.
2 stitches per centimeter, 3 layers of stitches, plus 8 in my cheek and 8 in my arm.

I probably shouldn’t have looked while I was eating! Just kidding.
Paula, I am looking forward to seeing you at Keystone and beyond. It is a miracle that you are up and around so soon. You definitely get the Turkey Mountain “Most Abrased Epidermus” award if they have that. Don’t worry about all those who will say “how do you get hit by a car at a mountain bike race”, because they just don’t know how hard core you are!!!
I love you, as do all your fellow PedalMashers. We will see you soon.

  9. faye Says:

Wow! All I can say is your one yough girl!

  10. Kevin Says:

Never met you but you have been helpful in the past when I’ve asked the KSS group for trail conditions in your neck of the woods. Like others I’m saddened to hear of your Turkey experience. When I first heard you were hurt I thought the trail demons had attacked then couldn’t believe when I heard it was a careless, moronic, asinine driver. Get well, godspeed, all the phrases that fit.

Look forward to your posts, pictures, and witty comments in the future.

  11. Elliott Says:

You’re amazing. Get well soon. Healing is frustrating but this too will pass and you’ll be back in black.

  12. Bob Says:

Yeeeeeiiikes!!! All my road biking friends tell me that mountain biking is too dangerous.
Best wishes for a quick recovery and back to riding again soon.

  13. Travis Says:

WOW! Unbelievable. Only you would be smiling and worried about the pictures the entire time. Glad that you are OK and in such good spirits. Take the time to Recover, Be safe, and you’ll be riding again in no time.

  14. Brian Says:

I’m with whoever said to kick back, recover and let the pharmeceuticals do what they’re intended for. Sorry to hear the incident happened. I’m thinking back to seeing you at your first race, Cruise the Blues, and thinking you’ve come a long way baby!

  15. Haley Says:

Hi Paula, WOW! I am sorry that happened. Thanks for sharing your pics. Nick agrees that you are amazing- best wishes. I hope to see you soon.

  16. Dawn Says:

A member of a website I frequent told us about your accident (Sara). Wow girl! You are one tough cookie! Hope you’re now well and truely on the mend and you don’t scar too badly - either that or it’s time to grow a fringe (bangs to you Americans). :-)

Paula, thank you for sharing your story and pictures. I heard about your story from The FredCast. Glad to hear you are doing better. I really enjoyed reading your story… you are very, very strong!

  19. Chris Says:

Paula Just heard your story on the Fredcast Podcast. It is awsome to see that you are on your way to recovery. I must admit I am in my car more than i am on my bike but I am always on the watch to make sure that I am aware of all who use the roads.
